James 3:13–4:3 — Peace with Each Other
BIG IDEA: When Christ is at the center, we are at peace with each other.
Wisdom SOWS peace
Biblical wisdom is revealed not by how much we know, but by how we live—especially when we don’t get our way.
Wisdom from above is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, impartial, and sincere.
We grow what we sow. Sow suspicion, contempt, and gossip—or sow patience, truth, mercy, and repentance.
Desires can become DEMANDS
Conflict often reveals what is happening inside us. A desire becomes a demand when I’m willing to sin to get it—or sin because I didn’t get it. Ask: What do I want—and has it become a demand?
No person, position, or church can carry the weight of our identity. Only Christ can give us the security we need.
Prayer becomes SURRENDER
Bring God the hurt, anger, and disappointment—but also ask Him to examine your heart.
Don’t let your disappointment decide who you become.
Contentment in Christ frees us to pursue change without making obedience depend on getting our way.
GRACE changes how we RELATE
Christ is our peace. Because we have received mercy, we can offer mercy. Because we are secure in Christ, we can admit when we are wrong, listen, repent, and love others faithfully.
THIS WEEK
Before your next difficult conversation, ask:
What actually happened?
What do I want—and has it become a demand?
What do I need to own?
