POINTS:

• To grow in wisdom means to discern what is good and pleasing to God.

• Virtue is the moral character and habit of consistently acting on wisdom.

• The difference between a Christian and a non-Christian should be the difference between light and darkness.

• We associate the light with niceness and the dark with meanness.

• Paul isn’t talking about being in darkness; he is talking about darkness being in us.

• “Nice” is not the fruit of light; wisdom is.

• The way we know we are darkness or light is by our fruit.

• The fruit of darkness will always start with a sweet taste, but it turns sour once swallowed. The fruit of light will always start with a sour taste that turns sweet once swallowed.

• Expose = to persuade

• Wisdom = the ability to make distinctions.

• Wisdom gives us balance.

• Paul says to have nothing to do with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but he doesn’t say have nothing to do with the people.

• True wisdom means that every area of our lives falls under the authority of Jesus Christ.

• Wisdom is knowing when you should operate intellectually, emotionally, or resolutely.

• The Christian life is an examined life.

• Wisdom = understanding the will of God.

• Foolishness chooses sweet now and sour later. Real wisdom chooses sour now and sweet later.
