Additional Scriptures: Ruth 1:20-21, Luke 6:32-36, Romans 8:28, Lamentations 3:22-23

POINTS:

  • The Hesed love of God = “steadfast love” or “loyal love” that goes beyond mere legal obligation.

  • Kinsman Redeemer = someone who has the right to buy back the land of a family that has lost it and restore the lineage.

  • It is sacrificial love that converts Ruth.

  • It is the Hesed love of Christians that demonstrates the power of God.

  • We build a Hesed relationship with time and commitment.

  • Humanity’s lack of time and commitment is why many people have socially and relationally atrophied.

  • Signs of shallow relationships:

    • Lack of emotional intimacy

    • Surface-level communication

    • Focus on appearances

    • Convenience-based connection

    • One-sidedness

    • On-again, off-again dynamic

    • No personal growth

  • We must grab hold of the signs of hope and new mercies that God has for us in the mundane and the Mondays of life.

  • The good that God works on our behalf is less noticeable in the mundane.

  • The reason that we don’t pick new mercies is that we have an agenda.

  • It is in the mundane things that miracles manifest.

  • God comes through mangers, not thrones.

  • No one can hold on to that hope all the time.
