Main Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:2-16
Additional Scriptures: Matthew 7:3-5, James 4:1-3, 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 10:10, Luke 19, Isaiah 58:12
POINTS:
Confronting sin is excruciating and terrifying.
Repentance is more about restoration than pointing out someone else’s sin.
Confronting sin is more about calling someone up than out.
The sin we often see in others is really our sin staring back at us.
We are to examine our motives before confronting sin in someone else.
“The less you talk about shame the more you know you have it.” - Brene Brown
Do you allow yourself to be seen?
Belonging begins with the premise that we are all sinners saved by grace.
“Shame dies when stories are told in safe places.” - Ann Voskamp
Repentance is a gift.
We will have one of two responses to seeing the darkness within: despair or hope.
Godly grief leads to repentance, producing a life without regret.
Teshuvah: return to your identity
How many times have we not turned from sin because we have a broken view of who we are?
Jesus died for who you really are, not for who you pretend to be.
Repentance = repairing
Do we have a desire to repair the wrong?
