EVERLASTING FATHER

Pastor Hope Flask

December 21, 2025

Main Scriptures:Psalm 103:1-14

Additional Scriptures: Isaiah 9:6, 49:15, 1 Kings 3:26, Matthew 8:20, 16:24, 27:46, Exodus 14:14, John 14:1-2, 6, 23, Psalm 103:15-16, 18

POINTS:

  • Everlasting Father means Jesus is the Creator of everything.

  • Compassion = overwhelmingly in love.

  • Dust is a metaphor for broken or falling apart; God is saying we’re a wreck.

  • Two types of orphans: orphans who know they are orphans, and orphans who don’t.

  • Jesus, as our Everlasting Father, is our safe place.

  • The 5S’s of secure attachment: safe, seen, soothed, supported, and secure.

  • Jesus, as the Everlasting Father, disciplines; He doesn’t punish.

  • We punish instead of discipline, as in, “You hurt me, and I want you to pay.”

  • The rod: a rod of care, like that of a King or Shepherd.

  • Proverbs 13:24 was never a license for punishment; it was an exhortation for care.

  • The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference.

  • If you love someone, you will get angry.

  • Jesus, as the Everlasting Father, is our Ultimate Home.

  • How do we grapple with who Jesus is as our Everlasting Father in our daily lives? Four steps:

  1. Realize that being a child of God is not automatic.

  2. Allow yourself to be wowed by His love for you.

  3. Our response should be to enter into our Ultimate Home.

  4. We should spend the rest of our lives here on earth meditating on His love for us.

  • For Jesus to be our Everlasting Father means we have been given three things: existence, resemblance, and relationship.
