David Pt. 2: God Turns Falling Into Fall
David Pt. 2
GOD TURNS FALLING INTO FALL

Main Scriptures: 2 Samuel 24:10-25
Additional Scriptures: Matthew 5:14-16, James 2:13b, Hebrews 5:13-14
POINTS:
Israel had a volunteer army and was moving to having a standing army.
God’s people are always meant to be a light, not a shadow.
Humanity’s propensity for violence often serves as the catalyst for God’s wrath.
Sometimes, God tells us to obey, but never gives us the reason why we should obey.
With one another, we should seek to understand before being understood.
If we only obey God when we understand: we are asking for a god that is only as wise as we are, and what we are actually looking for is agreement; we want to agree with God, not obey Him.
David falls into God’s hands, and that is what changes the leaves of this story.
Spiritual maturity = repentance
Spiritual maturity requires working in of the Word of God, continual worship and prayer, knowing God’s heart, and knowing your own.
Spiritual maturity requires emotional intelligence (EQ).
Spiritually mature people repent genuinely and handle criticism without getting offended.
A spiritual infant never humbles themselves, never apologizes without defending themselves, and builds their cases in a mental courtroom.
The journey to maturity won’t come without a price.
