Main Scriptures: Joshua 1:1-8

Additional Scriptures: Joshua 1:9, 3:5, 5:12, Exodus 13:18, Hebrews 3:7-11, Deuteronomy 8:7-9, John 15:8, 2 Corinthians 9:8, Ephesians 1:17-20, 3:20, 6:12-13, Philippians 4:19, Romans 8:32, Matthew 6:19-21, 1 Timothy 6:12, John 17:17

POINTS:

  • Command number one: be strong and courageous.

  • Command number two: keep His word.

  • The biggest difference between the first generation and the second was faith.

  • Egypt = what we used to know.

  • The new land will include the blessings of God, battles, and new skills.

  • God’s promises:

  1. A place where we can live. Jesus is our Promised Land.

  2. A place where He will bring forth a great harvest in our lives.

  3. We will lack nothing.

  4. Victory over our enemy.

  • “Our Promised Lands are characterized by the presence of victory, not the absence of opposition.” -Beth Moore

  • It’s for our good that we have battles.

  • A shield of faith was only used when troops were advancing to take new territory.

  • The primary way satan assaults our faith is by attacking God’s character through our character.

  • When we drop our shield of faith, every part of us becomes vulnerable to satan’s lies.

  • To consecrate = to set apart for a divine purpose.

  • Sanctification happens through the word of God, prayer, and fasting.

  • Fasting is not just about abstaining; it’s about reclaiming.
