The Life of a Seed

LET YOUR BEING INFORM YOUR DOING

Main Scripture: Luke 10:38-42

Additional Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 13:1-7, Philippians 4:6, Psalm 139:23-24, Proverbs 3:12

POINTS:

  • “A Christian’s spiritual maturity is directly linked to their emotional maturity.” - Peter Scazzero

  • Stages of emotional maturity: emotions infancy, emotional child, emotional adolescent, emotional adulthood.

  • The true sign of spiritual maturity is not what we do, it’s how we love.

  • We need to let our being define our doing

  • Recognize - Who do I say You are?

    • What or who do you recognize when you are with the Lord?

    • Do you recognize the things going wrong in your time with God?

    • Do you recognize the many things that need to be done?

    • Do you recognize Jesus?

  • Respond - What am I thankful for?

    • Instead of responding, do you react?

    • Do you question Jesus’ care for you?

    • Do you try to convince others to be the “I can’t’s, so you can’?

    • Do you think god only loves you when you do?

  • Express - What is my legitimate need?

    • Do you express your feelings to God?

    • Do you know that your feelings are meant to inform you, not to define you?

  • Adjust - What adjustment do I need to make?

    • Do you make the adjustments God tells you to make?
