POINTS:
Sin is our warped appetite for things that will destroy us.
Sin is addictive by nature because it destroys our tolerance, perpetuates denial, and drains willpower.
The temple in Jerusalem was unique because it was the only place where you could encounter God face to face and where sacrifices were offered for the atonement of sin.
The sacrificial system was incomplete because it always reminded you what a terrible sinner you are, and it only provided a temporary provision.
Jesus is cleaning the temple because He is after a deeper and truer spiritual reality than what His people have settled for.
Jesus wants depth; a depth that cannot be found in chaos, confusion, or disorder.
Satan brings confusion by telling us that our worship is about us.
Self-worship is the sin of idolatry.
You can identify the sin of idolatry within yourself by the presence of chaos.
Depth of worship takes concentration.
To concentrate on worship on Sundays, you must concentrate on worship every day.
Do you pray or do you just say your prayers?
Jesus wants us to look at ourselves and see the places where we’ve made His house of prayer a den of thieves, and we can tell by the chaos.
Have you made Jesus King of the church building, but not King of your heart?
The rulership of Christ is not a temporary one.
We should feel encouraged in the struggle because the King is in the temple, rearranging the furniture.
