THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

POINTS:

• Two major views of baptism of the Holy Spirit: the single-stage view and the multi-stage view.

• In the single-stage view, there is only one baptism of the Holy Spirit.

• In the multi-stage view, the Holy Spirit is received in two or more stages, which imparts “the fullness of the Spirit”.

• The sin the Holy Spirit convicts us of the most is self-righteousness.

• As God’s children, we have been given the privilege of authority.

• The multi-stage view of the Spirit’s Baptism focuses primarily on the authority given to us as children of God.

• The Holy Spirit is faithful, not forceful.

• When the Holy Spirit knocks, we can:

A. Treat Him like the Amazon delivery driver.

B. Say, “I’ll take it from here.”

C. Say, “Yay, it’s You!”

• The Holy Spirit is not going to share space with the devil in your life.

• Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit.

• A shooting star may catch someone’s eye, but no one who is lost gets found by following a shooting star.

• God is creating faithful servants who can shine regardless of how dark the night is.

• Everywhere Jesus went He brought a redemptive touch.

• The Holy Spirit baptizes us to bring God’s redemptive touch to the world.

• “The Spirit of God is in me for me, but He’s on me for you.”
