POINTS:
The unforgivable sin = when there is no repentance.
Confronting sin, whether it is in ourselves or in others, is both excruciating and terrifying.
Repentance is more about reparation than it is about pointing out someone else’s sin.
Confronting sin is more about calling them up than it is about calling them out.
Often, the sin we see in others is really our sin staring back at us.
We are to check our motives before confronting someone else’s sin.
“Shame is best understood as the fear of disconnection… The thing that underpins the shame is excruciating vulnerability.” -Brene Brown
If we want connection, we must allow ourselves to be seen.
When we refuse to confront our sin, we are listening to a false gospel.
True community and belonging only happen when we begin with the premise that we are all sinners saved by grace.
Godly grief produces repentance, and repentance produces a life without regret.
Repentance, in Hebrew, is teshuvah, which means return to your identity.
How many times have you and I not turned from sin because we have a broken view of who we really are?
If you want to know if your repentance is genuine, check your eagerness to set things right.
Christians repair what is broken.
